Meet the New Faces at Roberts Academy at Mercer University

We’re thrilled to introduce three outstanding educators who will be joining the Roberts Academy team this July! Each brings unique experience, energy, and a deep commitment to helping our students thrive. Whether it’s through structured literacy, student encouragement, or hands-on learning, these educators are ready to make an impact.

Meet Mrs. Kelea Buchanan – 3rd Grade Teacher

Roberts Academy at Mercer Univeristy's new third grade teacher, Mrs. Kelea Buchanan.

Kelea (pronounced “Kelly”) Buchanan brings more than 30 years of teaching experience across public and private schools, from kindergarten through college. A graduate of the University of Georgia and Columbus State University, she holds a B.S.Ed. and M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education, along with a Reading Endorsement and Orton-Gillingham Associate certification.

Kelea’s journey with the Orton-Gillingham Approach began when her own daughter was diagnosed with dyslexia. She homeschooled her through third grade, using OG strategies that helped her daughter go on to graduate at the top of her interior design class. Kelea knows firsthand that the OG approach works—and she’s passionate about using it to empower other students.

When she’s not teaching, you can find her gardening, baking gluten-free desserts, or cheering on UGA and the Braves. She lives on Lake Sinclair with her husband Scott, two adult daughters, and two beloved cats, Miss Lib and Miss Lucy.

One of her favorite quotes?
“Everyone falls down. Getting back up is how you learn how to walk.” – Walt Disney

Meet Mrs. Kim Greenlee – 5th Grade Teacher

Roberts Academy at Mercer University's new 5th grade teacher, Mrs. Kim Greenlee

A U.S. Army veteran and dynamic educator, Kim Greenlee brings more than 12 years of classroom experience to Roberts Academy. She holds degrees in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Reading and Literacy, and is certified in both general and special education. Her teaching philosophy is rooted in the science of reading. Her professional training includes Orton-Gillingham Academy Classroom Educator and Associate coursework.

Kim is not only a teacher but also an author and entrepreneur. She wrote a children’s book called Imagine That and founded Ameko’s Science Parties—interactive events designed to spark a love of science in kids. She’s also a former U16 girls’ soccer coach who led her team to a championship win!

At home, she’s a devoted wife and mom of four. She loves reading, crafting, gardening, and supporting young people in and out of the classroom.

Meet Ms. Lolita Moore – 5th Grade Teacher

Roberts Academy at Mercer University's new 5th grade teacher, Ms. Lolita Moore

With extensive training and a heart for literacy, Lolita Moore is passionate about helping students become confident, capable readers. She holds degrees in Early Childhood Education and Curriculum & Instruction and is certified in both general and special education (Pre-K through 5th grade). Her dedication to education and literacy has inspired her to complete extensive training, including Lexia LETRS, The Comprehensive Orton-Gillingham Plus, and Morphology Plus from the Institute for Multi-Sensory Education, as well as the Orton-Gillingham Reading Classroom Educator Level.

Currently pursuing her Associate Level certification with the Orton-Gillingham Academy, Lolita is also trained in OG Math—a powerful combination for supporting students with learning differences.

Her excellence in the classroom hasn’t gone unnoticed: she was named Teacher of the Year at Gray Elementary in 2016 and was featured on 13 WMAZ’s My Teacher is Tops. She’s also earned multiple classroom grants through Tri-County EMC.

Outside the classroom, Lolita enjoys reading books with plot twists, shopping at her favorite markets, watching Christmas movies year-round, and attending live wrestling events—especially Monday Night Raw.
