Our detailed application process ensures each child admitted to the Academy will have the opportunity to find success in our program.
A child with dyslexia may have other learning differences that can distract from the Academy’s focus on teaching children with dyslexia. The admissions committee will consider a child’s dyslexia and other learning differences during the admissions process.
- Parents/guardians apply online using our student information system, FACTS. Please see the application checklist below for a list of documents you will need to upload via FACTS. (If you would prefer to submit a paper application, please email us at admissions@robertsacademy.org.) There is a $100 non-refundable application fee, which you will submit via FACTS.
- In the online application, you will be asked to provide the email addresses of your student's current school administrator and teacher. FACTS will email these individuals evaluation forms, which will be sent back to Roberts Academy.
- The Admissions Committee reviews the completed application. If the child appears to be a good candidate for Roberts Academy, we will reach out to schedule a screening session. If we are not the right program for your child, you will receive communication explaining the reasons why and recommendations for next steps.
- Our screenings will take place on the Mercer University campus. During the screening process, your child will meet with two members of our team to complete age-appropriate diagnostic testing, which focuses on reading, writing, and spelling. This evaluation will take approximately one hour to complete.
Selection is based on the child’s inherent capabilities and ability to benefit from the dynamic educational programs of Roberts Academy.
