Roberts Academy at Mercer University

Core Curriculum

Teachers will present information using visual (seeing), auditory (hearing), tactile (touching), and kinesthetic (body movement) strategies in all subject areas to enable our students to learn more efficiently and retain concepts more effectively.

The Academy will provide a comprehensive educational program and curriculum for students with dyslexia in grades 2 through 5. The curriculum will be aligned with the Georgia Standards for Excellence, and students attending the Academy will learn and demonstrate competencies in:

  • mathematics
  • science
  • social studies
  • computer science
  • fine arts
  • health & physical education
  • English language arts that emphasize reading, writing, and spelling

Because the curriculum will follow the Georgia Standards for Excellence, Academy students will keep pace with the learning advances made by students attending public or independent schools in Georgia.
